Prayer & Donation Request
Augustana Lutheran Church Secretary, Lauren, her dad, Steve Petersen, is fighting Stage 4 Stomach Cancer. April 2024, he went in for a routine scan and it showed some concerning spots where it was discovered he has Metastatic Gastric Cancer in his abdomen, Liver and lymph nodes. He has discovered he has multiple blood clots in his leg and one that was found in his lung. He has been in severe pain due to the cancer mass pressing on his Celiac Artery, which is the bile and GI tract artery. He isn’t able to eat much and has lost 38 pounds since April 2024.
He is not able to work any longer (he is a semi-truck driver) due to the pain and having to take pain medications. He has been referred to Palliative Care to help manage his pain. He started radiation on December 9th in hopes that it can help alleviate some of the pain in order to give him a better quality of life. A GoFundMe page has been made on behalf of her dad. I am reaching out with a humble request for assistance as they navigate through the unknown of the disease. The road ahead will not be easy, but with your prayers and support, he can focus on himself and his treatment. He will never be free from cancer but is hoping for many more years and memories with his loved ones. All donations will go towards medical and monthly expenses to keep them afloat until he is able to return to work.
If anyone is wanting to help donate, they can donate via GoFundMe, or donations can be dropped off to Lauren in the church office. Any check can be payable to Lauren Moll and she will get the money to her dad, Steve or stepmom, Deb. Anything is greatly appreciated. Thank you!
